Although Portugal did not have the same tradition in furniture design as other European countries, the 1950s and 1960s were particularly successful in developing a Portuguese modernist language, influenced by international trends.
As most of the Portuguese manufacturers of that time no longer exist, the photographic archive of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is particularly interesting to visualize the mid-century Portugueses design. In this album, shoot by the well-known photographer Mário Novais in 1933, we can see some of the best examples of interiors and furniture created in Portugal.

If you have a house to sell, we can help you!
